The Club was founded on 4th January 1962 and was the creation of three men, John Roden, now sadly deceased, Ernie Mills, now living in Yorkshire and Bill Wright, who became an Essex Alderman, but who is also deceased.

In its first full year 1962/63 the Club fielded two senior teams and a colts side. The Club was fortunate to find Rocheway School with no occupants and thus immediately had fine pitches and excellent changing facilities. Additionally The Horse and Groom PH in Rochford had a separate club room which just suited a rugby club. The club colours have always been black shirts and shorts due more to the economies of the early days than any other reason. After 5 years the club had four senior sides and began its search for land. It was Ernie Mills who found the present land at Magnolia Road just by walking round the Rochford area. The Club purchased the 9 acre site at a cost of £3,200 in 1969 and in 1972 the clubhouse and pitches were inaugurated with a match against an Eastern Counties XV.

Since then the club has prospered and increased its playing strength until today the club fields five senior sides and teams in all age categories of youth, midi and mini-rugby from the age of seven upwards, plus the occasional senior Sunday side and a womens team and a girls under sixteen team. The club has three full size pitches, one floodlit for matches, with two separate floodlit training areas, complemented by spacious changing areas, a weights room, bar and dining areas. Rochford Hundred has been lucky to attract a number of sponsors and sponsor's lunches prior to league games are regarded as one of the highlights of the Club's social calendar.
