Recognising that some members of the LGBTQ+ community may not feel entirely comfortable playing rugby for a 'traditional' team, Rochford Hundred are launching a new team for the 23/24 season.
Rochford Hundred RFC wants this team, the brainchild of Alan Harvey and promoted by The Cliff Public House in Southend, to provide an environment where men, both gay and straight, can try a sport that they may not have felt able to before or return to one that they have enjoyed previously.
The team will be playing Touch Rugby at first, with the aim of joining the other UK based IGR teams if the desire is there from the players.
Previous experience isn't necessary, and Rochford Hundred are inviting gay men of all ages and ability to come and give rugby a try with no pressure to commit.
Touch Rugby taster sessions will be held at the club on Magnolia Road, Rochford in June and July with the first session on June 5th at 1900.
